Honor Parade

The Honor Parade at the American Belgian Tervuren Club (ABTC) National Specialty 2025 is a moving tribute to the distinguished Belgian Tervuren who have graced our lives and enriched our hearts with their companionship, loyalty, and achievements. Held on Friday, June 6, following conformation judging, this event celebrates the legacy of each Tervuren who has reached the age of eight or older, whose titles and awards are a testament to their journey and the bond they share with their people.

The Honor Parade is more than a showcase of accolades; it celebrates lives lived with joy, resilience, and love. These dogs have filled their owners’ days with laughter, loyalty, and a connection that words can scarcely describe. Each dog in the parade represents a lifetime of shared moments—early training sessions, first show rings, wins celebrated and lessons learned, quiet moments, and daily companionship that strengthened the bond over time.

We invite you to share a special memory that captures your dog’s unique spirit and how they have enriched your life. Whether it was their boundless enthusiasm, how they looked after you, or a small moment that spoke to the depths of your connection, these memories will be read aloud for all to share in the joy and gratitude we feel for these remarkable dogs.

Each honored participant will receive a personalized ribbon commemorating this milestone and the journey traveled together. Join us as we recognize these exceptional Tervuren who, over the years, have given us so much more than we could ever give them in return.

The Honor Parade is a special, non-competitive event celebrating Belgian Tervuren aged eight years or older who have earned at least one AKC/CKC title or a BAR award. The Honor Parade Committee may also consider entries for dogs facing a health crisis or other exceptional circumstances that may prevent them from reaching the qualifying age.

Tervuren entered in eligible conformation classes for Best of Breed (class dogs, class bitches, Best of Breed, and non-regular Veteran Dog and Veteran Bitch classes for ages eight to ten) are not eligible for the Honor Parade. However, dogs and bitches aged eleven years and older may participate in both the Best of Breed Veteran classes and the Honor Parade.

Eligible Tervuren owned by the Show Secretary, Show Chairperson, or any Specialty Judge who has completed their judging assignment are also welcome to join the Honor Parade.

TRIBUTE EVENT ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS:

The entry fee is $40. - Deadline for inclusion is April 16th, 2025
Participants will receive a keepsake, which will include a picture and the write-up. Please email or upload a photograph of your dog using the form below for inclusion in your keepsake. Photos must be submitted by April 16 to coloradodog1@hotmail.com.

Submission Requirements:

Per ABTC Guidelines, the Honor Parade is limited to all Belgian Tervuren eight (8) years of age or older on the date of the Honor Parade and having at least one AKC title or a BAR award. The Honor Parade Committee may review dogs that, because of a health crisis or similar situation, might not survive to the age to qualify for the Honor Parade. The Honor Parade is limited to dogs and bitches not entered in any regular or non-regular (including Veterans) Conformation class. Honor Parade entrants may be entered in Veteran Sweepstakes and/or Performance events. A Show Secretary, Show Chair, and any Specialty Judge who has completed their assignment may enter their eligible Tervuren in the Honor Parade.
